Takachiho 高千穂

Hi it is me Lim from Singapore.

Takachiho town in Miyazaki Prefecture is on the island of Kyushu in southern Japan, and is located on the borders of Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty.  It has a spectacular gorge with waterfalls and volcanic rock formations.

Amanoiwato Shrine – 天岩戸神社

It is located in a cafe and is the power spot of this area. The surrounding nature around this shrine will also have a soothing effect for those who are looking for a place to relax and find peace in oneself.











The interesting part of this shrine is the large number of stones or pebbles which are being stacked up.  According to legend is that the Amaterasu Daijin (天照大神) the Sun God was upset and hiding in the cave. So around 80,000,000 deities  八百万の神々 from all around Japan gathered trying their best to make Amaterasu Daijin coming our from hiding with dace and song and entertainment so that the would can be filled with light again.  All the stones around the shrine represents the deities gathered.











Takachiho Gorges – 高千穂峡

 You can walk along the gorge, a 20- minute stroll . There are also rowing boats for hire. With the boat you will be able to get close to the waterfall.













Once you are at the resting point you must try one of their famous Hyuganatsu ice-cream日向夏ソフトクリーム which is made from a local delicateness Hyuganatsu Mandarin Orange
